In a surprising turn of events, the Afghanistan National Cricket Team spinner Noor Ahmad will not participate in the Caribbean Premier League 2026 (CPL 2026). The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has officially revoked Ahmad’s No Objection Certificate (NOC), a move that has stunned fans and the cricket world alike. It is reported that visa-related complications prevented the young spinner from traveling to the West Indies, forcing the ACB to take this necessary step. Consequently, Noor Ahmad is ineligible to play for the St Lucia Kings this season.

St Lucia Kings Confirm Replacement

Shortly after the announcement, the St Lucia Kings confirmed that explosive New Zealand opener Tim Seifert will step into the role as Ahmad’s replacement for the CPL 2026. The franchise expressed their disappointment over Noor’s unavailability, wishing him all the best in the future. “Noor will no longer be available to represent the Saint Lucia Kings for the remainder of the tournament. The franchise is disappointed that Noor will be unable to join the team and wishes him all the best,” St Lucia Kings stated.

Tim Seifert’s Impact on the Kings

Tim Seifert’s addition could be a game-changer for the St Lucia Kings. He is currently in hot form, having recently played a crucial role in the final match of The Hundred 2026 tournament for the Manchester Super Giants, scoring a blistering 72 runs against the Trent Rockets. Seifert’s experience in the CPL from the previous two seasons also adds to his merit as a valuable team member. Last year in the CPL, he racked up an impressive 396 runs in just 10 innings, boasting a phenomenal strike rate of 169.23.

Noor Ahmad’s Last Performance and Statistics

Noor Ahmad proved himself as a top bowler during the 2024 CPL. He emerged as the leading wicket-taker, amassing an astonishing 22 wickets in 12 matches, placing him at the forefront of the bowling charts with an economy rate of 6.19. His exceptional performance was key in guiding the St Lucia Kings to win the 2024 Caribbean Premier League title.

The Current State of St Lucia Kings

The St Lucia Kings currently find themselves ranked third in the CPL points table, with just two victories against two defeats in their four matches. Despite the initially promising roster, both batting and bowling performance has been underwhelming. In their latest match, the Kings faced a disheartening defeat against the Amazon Warriors, who won by 7 wickets, with 11 balls to spare. As the team looks to adjust and strengthen its lineup with Seifert’s arrival, fans are hopeful for a resurgence in performance.

With the CPL 2026 season well underway, the Kings are looking to shake off their sluggish start and capitalize on the rejuvenated energy that Tim Seifert brings to the squad. Can the Kings turn their fortunes around and compete for the title once again?
