West Indies made a statement in Dhaka, chasing down 170 with eight wickets in hand before Lunch on the final day. Spin did the damage, a personal landmark arrived, and Brandon King sealed it with an unbeaten 81. The win gives the visitors a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

West Indies Storm Home Inside 36 Overs

Needing 170, West Indies finished on 170 for 2 in just 35.1 overs. The chase was done before Lunch on October 31, 2026, leaving Bangladesh little time to build any pressure.

The foundation was laid at the top. John Campbell and Brandon King put on an opening stand of 112 that effectively settled the contest.

King and Hodge Finish the Job

Campbell fell for 49, but the damage was already done. King went on to finish unbeaten on 81, while Kavem Hodge remained not out on 31 to see the visitors home.

Bangladesh did have a lifeline. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto put down a chance to dismiss King at second slip during the chase, and the miss proved costly.

Hasan Mahmud (1 for 14) and Shoriful Islam (1 for 20) each took a wicket. Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also bowled, but none of them could break the King-Hodge partnership.

Spin Twins Dismantle Bangladesh

The chase was only possible because of the bowling. Roston Chase and Jomel Warrican controlled the match with the ball and bowled Bangladesh out for 142 in the second innings.

Chase Reaches 100 Test Wickets

The captain took 5 for 36 in Bangladesh’s second innings. The haul also brought up his 100th Test wicket, a significant milestone for the off-spinner.

It came at a crucial moment. His spell kept the target well within West Indies’ reach.

Warrican Takes Player of the Match

Warrican finished with nine wickets in the match, including 4 for 63 in the second innings. That return earned him the Player of the Match award.

Together, the two spinners were the main architects of the victory.

How Bangladesh’s Second Innings Unfolded

Bangladesh had led the first-innings battle, scoring 272 against West Indies’ 245. A lead of 27 was a modest cushion, and it did not last.

By the close of Day 3 they were 79 for 6, ahead by just over 100. The remaining wickets fell on the final morning, and the hosts were all out for 142.

Nayeem Fights Back, Others Fall Short

Nayeem Hasan top-scored with 52, offering some lower-order resistance. Jaker Ali added 22.

Mominul Haque had hurt his leg while attempting a catch during West Indies’ first innings. He batted as a concussion substitute in the second innings.

It was not enough. Chase and Warrican shared the bulk of the wickets and left Bangladesh with a target that proved far too small.

What It Means for the Series

West Indies now hold a commanding 1-0 lead heading into the second Test. Tagenarine Chanderpaul also featured in the batting effort across the match.

The pattern was clear. The spinners squeezed Bangladesh twice, and the openers made the chase look routine. Bangladesh must find answers quickly, or the series could slip away.
