DDCA Alerts BCCI Over DPL Corruption Claims

The Delhi & District Cricket Association has stepped into a brewing corruption storm surrounding the Delhi Premier League, saying it has already informed the BCCI and is waiting for the governing body’s advice on the next steps. The development follows a Tehelka report that has triggered scrutiny around alleged corruption links connected to the DPL and the IPL.

DDCA says it reported the matter to the BCCI

A top DDCA official told Cricbuzz that the association had been in touch with the BCCI since the report surfaced. The official said the association would follow whatever guidance comes from the board, stressing that anyone found involved in anti-corruption activity would be held accountable.

“We have asked the BCCI with regards to this. We will abide by the BCCI advice – what they advise. Any person involved in the anti-corruption activity will not be spared. He or they will be held accountable,” the official said.

The DDCA also underlined that the league had been monitored by the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, with an anti-corruption official attached to each team during the season. That detail has become central to the response, as officials now look to understand how the alleged approach and information-sharing claims emerged despite the presence of safeguards.

Approach to a Delhi player was reportedly flagged

The official also confirmed that during the recent season, Delhi wicketkeeper-batter Vansh Bedi was allegedly approached by a player from Uttar Pradesh, and that the matter was immediately reported to the ACSU. Bedi, 23, was picked by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2025 season, released after the season, and later went unsold at the 2026 auction.

Bedi has strongly denied any involvement in the allegations. In a social media post, he said he was being falsely linked to defamatory content circulating online and denied being the person referenced in the Tehelka sting.

“I categorically state that I am not the individual referred to … nor do I have any involvement whatsoever in any such activity,” Bedi wrote, distancing himself from the controversy.

CSK expected to review the expose

The controversy widened after reports claimed that matches involving Chennai Super Kings in the 2025 season were fixed. CSK has said it will look into the matter, and a franchise official indicated that the board will discuss what action, if any, should be taken.

According to Cricbuzz, the CSK board is expected to meet within the next 24 hours, ahead of the franchise’s AGM scheduled for September 25. That meeting is likely to shape the immediate response from one of the IPL’s most followed teams, as the allegations continue to draw attention.

In its own statement, the DDCA said the matter was serious enough to warrant sharing the available information with the relevant authorities and asked that it be examined through the established process. The association’s stance suggests that it wants the investigation to move through formal channels rather than speculation.

What the allegations claim

The Tehelka expose alleges that a CSK player passed classified information to a former Delhi first-class cricketer, who then sold team details to London-based bookmakers for INR 60 lakh in connection with a 2025 season match. The report also claims the former player said he had earned INR 3 crore by selling information and that he had contacts within a DPL team that allowed him to access playing XIs before games.

Those claims are serious, but at this stage they remain allegations that will need to be examined by the relevant authorities. Both the DDCA and CSK have indicated they are treating the matter with urgency, while the BCCI’s anti-corruption framework is expected to play a major role in any follow-up.

“Given the seriousness of the matter, DDCA has written to the respective authorities and shared the information that has come to its notice,” the association said.

For now, the focus has shifted from the report itself to the formal response. The next steps from the BCCI, the DDCA, and CSK will determine whether the allegations lead to a wider probe or remain unproven claims in a rapidly escalating controversy.

With the DPL under fresh scrutiny and one of the IPL’s biggest franchises monitoring developments closely, the story is likely to remain in the spotlight until official findings emerge.
