In a thrilling announcement, the Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that Farhan Yousaf will captain the Pakistan U-19 team during their tour of England. This comes on the heels of Yousaf’s successful leadership that saw the team claim victory at the ACC U-19 Asia Cup last December.
The touring party, comprising 15 talented players, is set to fly out of Lahore on August 30. Their challenging series will kick off on September 2 with a single Youth Test at the prestigious Arundel Castle Cricket Ground. Following the Test, the teams will engage in a series of four Youth ODIs, showcasing young talent on an international stage.
Prior to their departure, the squad assembled at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore for a crucial pre-tour camp. This preparation wrapped up with an engaging two-day red-ball intra-squad match, providing players with essential practice before the formidable challenge ahead.
The composition of the squad includes nine players with previous U-19 experience, which adds valuable depth. Along with captain Yousaf, returning players include Abdul Subhan, Ahmad Hussain, Hamza Zahoor, Mohammad Sayyam, Mohammad Huzaifa, Niqab Shafiq, Umar Zaib, and Usman Khan.
New faces stepping up for their first experience in Pakistan U-19 colors during this tour include some exciting talents who are ready to make their mark. The pace attack will be spearheaded by Sayyam, Subhan, Rizwanullah, and Zaib, while the spin department features Huzaifa and Niqab Shafiq.
The all-rounder positions are filled by Aliyan Salman, Ahmad Hussain, Jahangir Bilal, and Hayam Khan. The wicket-keeping duties will be shared between Hamza Zahoor and Abdul Qadir, ensuring both players bring their skills to the forefront. The squad also features specialist batters including Yousaf, Usman Khan, and Hasnain Abbas Dar.
The head coach for this important assignment will be Shahid Anwar. He will be well-supported by Rao Iftikhar Anjum, focusing on fast bowling, Zohaib Khan for spin bowling, and Humayun Farhat as the fielding coach. This experienced coaching staff aims to equip the team with the skills necessary for success on this tour.
