Jan Frylinck delivered a masterclass when it mattered most. His commanding 126 off 122 balls powered Namibia to 316/7, and a disciplined bowling display sealed a 63-run win over Ireland in the third ODI. Curtis Campher’s fighting century lit up the chase, but it was not enough.
Namibia began cautiously, reaching 48/1 after ten overs. They moved to 96/2 at the end of the 19th over, still building rather than attacking.
Then Frylinck and Gerhard Erasmus took control. Their century partnership came from just 102 deliveries and changed the shape of the innings. Erasmus reached his half-century from 50 balls, hitting six fours and a six along the way.
Frylinck played the anchor role at the other end. His innings included nine fours and four sixes, and it gave Namibia a platform to push on.
Namibia were 197/3 after 36 overs, and the closing stages brought a sharp rise in the run rate. Frylinck reached his hundred from 110 deliveries.
Alexander Busing Volschenk then gave valuable support, scoring 24 off 20 balls in a rapid 50-run partnership. The final ten overs produced 107 runs, lifting Namibia well beyond 300.
Frylinck was eventually dismissed for 126, with Campher taking the wicket. The innings closed on 316/7.
Ireland’s reply started badly. A disciplined opening spell from the Namibian bowlers reduced the visitors to 81/4 inside 17 overs.
Campher and Andy McBrine tried to rebuild, adding 50 runs from 44 balls. Campher then joined George Dockrell, and the pair added another half-century stand to keep the chase alive.
Campher reached his fifty from 45 deliveries and then moved through the gears. He completed his century from just 82 balls, with ten fours and three sixes.
The problem was the lack of support at crucial moments. Wickets kept falling, and Campher always had too much to do. Ireland passed 200 in the 37th over but were bowled out for 253/9 in 44.5 overs.
| Team | Score | Overs |
|---|---|---|
| Namibia | 316/7 | 50 |
| Ireland | 253/9 | 44.5 |
| Player | Team | Runs | Balls | Boundaries |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jan Frylinck | Namibia | 126 | 122 | 9 fours, 4 sixes |
| Gerhard Erasmus | Namibia | 50 (half-century) | 50 | 6 fours, 1 six |
| Alexander Busing Volschenk | Namibia | 24 | 20 | – |
| Curtis Campher | Ireland | 100+ (century) | 82 (to century) | 10 fours, 3 sixes |
This was a complete team effort from Namibia. The batters built patiently and then accelerated, and the bowlers kept striking at key moments.
The numbers tell the story. Namibia scored 107 runs in the last ten overs, while Ireland lost four wickets before the 17th over. That early damage left Campher fighting a lost cause.
One insight stands out: a big individual hundred is rarely enough in a chase without a partner who stays. Frylinck had support from Erasmus and Volschenk, while Campher had to keep rebuilding.
For Ireland, Campher’s century is a major positive in a defeat. For Namibia, Frylinck’s composed 126 and their late-innings power make this a statement win in the third ODI.
