The much-anticipated schedule for the IPL 2026 has finally been released. Fans can mark their calendars as the tournament kicks off on March 28, featuring a thrilling match between the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and their rivals, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This season promises to be exhilarating with many fan-favorite matchups.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the schedule for the first two weeks, which runs from March 28 to April 12. Notably, this year’s schedule avoids doubleheaders on the opening weekend. On the first Sunday, fans can witness the Mumbai Indians (MI) facing off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium.
Following these clashes, five-time winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. This matchup is particularly exciting as star players Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja, debuting for RR, go head-to-head against their former team. The inaugural phase also includes Punjab Kings (PBKS) playing host to Gujarat Titans (GT), and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) facing the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the last match of the opening round.
The fixture list for the initial phase of IPL 2026 is filled with exciting encounters. Particularly, the Southern Derby between RCB and CSK is a must-watch, scheduled at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Moreover, the defending champions RCB will return to Wankhede Stadium to face MI in what promises to be a thrilling finale to the first leg of matches.
However, it is crucial to note that the matches hosted at the Chinnaswamy Stadium are dependent on clearance from the expert committee, who will make their decisions on March 13.
In previous seasons, franchises collaborated with various online platforms for ticket sales. This year, the IPL will again leverage platforms like District and Book My Show, with RCB also selling tickets through their official site. Excitingly, a portion of tickets will be available on-site for physical purchase at the venue.
The Mumbai Indians (MI) have started a pre-sale registration for tickets through Book My Show, signaling that fans should act quickly to secure their seats.
Stay tuned for updates including real-time scores, predictions, and overall IPL standings, as the anticipation for IPL 2026 builds!
