Bangladesh have their squad locked in. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has named 15 players for the first Test against the West Indies, starting October 28 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. Litton Das is back after a brief injury absence, and the hosts want to keep their momentum rolling.
The big headline is the return of senior batter Litton Das. He missed the recent ODI tri-series, but he is now fit and back in the red-and-green mix.
The West Indies will stay on in the subcontinent after their white-ball tour of India. Bangladesh, meanwhile, are heading home after their one-off Test against Afghanistan in the UAE, followed by the ODI tri-series.
Najmul Hossain Shanto continues as captain after leading from the front for the past year or so. Allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be his deputy.
Shadman Islam and Tanzid Hasan, who have both been in good form, stay at the top of the order. Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das are expected to form the experienced middle order. Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali are the other specialist batters, and Mominul Haque is also in the squad.
Nayeem Hasan is back from a hamstring injury and rejoins the spin group. He will work alongside Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam, which gives Bangladesh plenty of options on home conditions.
The pace unit, led by Hasan Mahmud, has been in good form and remains unchanged. Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain and Shoriful Islam complete the fast-bowling group.
Here is the full 15-man group named by the BCB.

This has been a fruitful year in the longest format for Bangladesh. They comprehensively beat Pakistan in a two-match home series. They then pulled off a historic win against Australia in Darwin.
It has not all been smooth. Bangladesh lost in Zimbabwe, and Australia hit back in the second Test in Mackay. The one-off Test against Afghanistan ended in a draw, although Bangladesh were the better side for large parts of it.
| 2026 Test Highlight | Result |
|---|---|
| Home series vs Pakistan (2 Tests) | Comprehensive win |
| First Test vs Australia, Darwin | Historic win |
| Zimbabwe | Loss |
| Second Test vs Australia, Mackay | Loss |
| Only Test vs Afghanistan, UAE | Draw |
Playing at home gives Bangladesh a real chance to build on that form. The return of Litton Das adds experience and stroke-making to the middle order, and a fit Nayeem Hasan deepens the spin options.
A strong showing against the West Indies could also help Bangladesh climb the World Test Championship table. With a settled pace attack, an in-form opening pair and a proven captain, the hosts look ready to start the series on the front foot.
