Ravindra Jadeja stands on the brink of a historic achievement as India opens its two-match Test series against Sri Lanka on August 15 at Galle. The left-arm spinning all-rounder requires just two more wickets to reach 350 in Test cricket, placing him among an elite group of players. With a total of 348 wickets from 89 Tests at an impressive average of 25.12, and 4,095 runs under his belt, Jadeja is certainly one of the finest all-rounders India has ever seen.
Reaching 350 Test wickets would not only be a personal landmark for Jadeja but a historic moment for Indian cricket. He would become only the second Indian player, after Kapil Dev, to achieve the remarkable feat of more than 350 Test wickets alongside more than 4,000 runs. Currently, Kapil Dev holds the record with 5,248 runs and 434 wickets in 131 matches.
Moreover, Jadeja would be the first Indian spinner to accomplish this all-round double in the long format of the game. This achievement resonates strongly within the cricket fraternity, especially considering that since crossing the 4,000 runs mark in November 2025, Jadeja distinguished himself among a prestigious group of four—including Kapil Dev, Ian Botham, and Daniel Vettori—who have surpassed both 300 wickets and 4,000 runs.
Past performances further bolster Jadeja’s chances of clinching this historic milestone. His past encounters against Sri Lanka in Test matches showcase a commendable record. In seven Tests and nine innings against the island nation, Jadeja has amassed 326 runs at an outstanding average of 65.20, with highlights including a century and a fifty, and his top score remaining an impressive 175 not out.
On the bowling front, Jadeja has claimed 33 wickets against Sri Lanka at an average of 23.72, featuring two five-wicket hauls with best figures of 5/41. This consistency positions him favorably going into the Galle Test, where conditions may play to his spin bowling strengths and provide an excellent platform to reach the coveted 350-wicket milestone.
The action continues with the second Test scheduled at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from August 23 to 27. As the series unfolds, all eyes will be on Jadeja, not only to witness the magic he can conjure with the ball but also to see if he can etch his name further into the annals of cricket history with this monumental achievement.
