India finished the job in style. A five-wicket haul from 20-year-old left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma bundled Zimbabwe out for 131, before Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma crunched the chase in just 17 overs. The eight-wicket win completed a 3-0 whitewash in the Women’s ODI series and a clean sweep across both formats.
Playing only her third ODI, Vaishnavi finished with figures of 5/39 in 10 overs. It was a standout follow-up to the four wickets she took in the second ODI of the series.
Her spell restricted Zimbabwe to 131 all out in 39.5 overs and left the visitors with too little to defend.
Pacer Sayali Satghare struck early, removing opener Loryn Phiri with a faint edge down the leg side in her first over. No. 3 Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano followed soon after, cutting a regulation delivery from Shafali Verma straight to the fielder at point.
Vaishnavi then took over. She first removed Beloved Biza before outwitting the in-form Modester Mupachikwa.
Sensing that Mupachikwa would advance down the pitch, Vaishnavi floated a wide, tossed-up delivery. The batter was stumped by wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia. Mupachikwa had been Zimbabwe’s best batter on the day, top-scoring with 37 off 48 balls.
Vaishnavi’s fifth wicket came off the last ball of her spell. Nyasha Gwanzura attempted a wild slog sweep, and the ball ricocheted off her pads onto the stumps. Kranti Gaud and Satghare each picked up two wickets in support.
| Bowler | Figures / Wickets |
|---|---|
| Vaishnavi Sharma | 5/39 (10 overs) |
| Kranti Gaud | 2 wickets |
| Sayali Satghare | 2 wickets |
Captain Smriti Mandhana sent Yastika Bhatia to open alongside Pratika Rawal. Bhatia wasted the chance, attempting a cross-batted stroke off the very first ball she faced and getting caught at mid-on.
Pratika, however, was untroubled. She had scored 100 and 61 in the first two ODIs, and here she brought up her 10th ODI half-century in her 30th appearance in the format.
She got off the mark with boundaries on either side of the square, then built her innings steadily. She finished unbeaten on 59 off 56 balls.
Shafali joined her at No. 4 and accelerated the chase with a barrage of boundaries. She finished on 51 not out off just 26 balls.
India knocked off the target in only 17 overs, wrapping up an eight-wicket victory with plenty to spare.
| Batter | Runs | Balls | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pratika Rawal | 59 | 56 | Not out |
| Shafali Verma | 51 | 26 | Not out |
| Modester Mupachikwa (ZIM) | 37 | 48 | Top scorer for Zimbabwe |
With the series already decided, India made three changes to their playing XI. Harleen Deol, Yastika Bhatia and Kranti Gaud came in, with Gaud returning after being rested for the second ODI.
This was the first bilateral series played between India and Zimbabwe in women’s cricket. India had also won the preceding T20 series 3-0, completing a clean sweep across both formats.
For India, the series delivered a young spinner in form and a top order in rhythm. Pratika’s run of 100, 61 and 59* stood out, while Shafali showed again how quickly she can end a chase.
Zimbabwe’s batting struggled throughout the white-ball tour of India, and a string of soft dismissals early in the innings put them under pressure here. Still, they gained valuable experience against one of the top sides in women’s cricket.
