IPL 2027 Trade Tracker: Pant Swap, Hardik Rumours

adminCricketYesterday12 Views

IPL 2027 is already heating up before the mini-auction even arrives. With retention plans taking shape and trade talks moving fast, franchises are using every possible route to fix squad gaps early. The biggest moves have already shaken the market, while a fresh wave of rumours is swirling around some of the league’s most valuable names.

The trade window is moving fast

Trade deals in the IPL have always carried extra weight because they can change a team’s balance without the pressure of a bidding war. In the past, high-profile switches such as Hardik Pandya’s move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians have shown how quickly the landscape can shift when franchises strike early.

That trend is continuing in 2027. Several teams are now believed to be studying swaps, cash adjustments and future-fit deals before the mini-auction in December. Some moves are confirmed, while others remain in the rumour column for now.

Confirmed blockbuster: Pant returns to Delhi

The headline move so far is the direct swap between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, a deal already approved by the IPL governing council. Rishabh Pant is heading back to Delhi, the franchise where he built much of his reputation across nine seasons from 2016 to 2024.

Pant joins DC at a revised salary of INR 15 crore, a steep drop from the INR 27 crore LSG paid at the 2025 mega auction. In exchange, Lucknow receive Kuldeep Yadav, who leaves Delhi after five years and moves at his existing fee of INR 13.50 crore.

The deal also changes the purse situation for both sides. LSG gain roughly INR 13.75 crore in extra room, while DC lose close to INR 1.25 crore to complete Pant’s revised salary structure.

Kuldeep Yadav DC LSG INR 13.50 crore

SRH and DC complete another exchange

Another completed trade has seen T. Natarajan return to Sunrisers Hyderabad after his stint away from the franchise. He is joined by leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari, who moves to Delhi Capitals in the same exchange.

Natarajan previously represented SRH for five seasons from 2020 to 2024. He had been picked up by DC at the mega-auction for INR 10.75 crore, but now returns to Hyderabad at a revised fee of INR 5 crore.

Ansari, meanwhile, brings youthful value and useful spin depth to Delhi. He played 10 matches for SRH in IPL 2025 and picked up 6 wickets, and he arrives at the same fee of INR 40 lakh. For DC, his arrival is a direct attempt to fill the spin vacancy left by Kuldeep’s departure.

Hardik Pandya chatter dominates the market

Even with two major trades already done, most of the noise still centres on Hardik Pandya’s future at Mumbai Indians. Reports suggest Kolkata Knight Riders have made contact with MI management to check on a possible trade, while Rajasthan Royals are also said to be in the mix.

Chennai Super Kings have also been linked with a bold move that could involve Shivam Dube and Ayush Mhatre heading to MI, with Pandya coming the other way. Mumbai, however, have denied all trade rumours so far, keeping the situation wide open.

Journalist Rohit Juglan has suggested that a Pandya-to-KKR move is highly possible, while also indicating that a switch to CSK looks less likely. Separately, a popular MI fan account claimed that RR, CSK and KKR are all interested in acquiring Pandya via trade.

“Pandya’s situation remains the most watched storyline in the trade market right now,” one report suggested, reflecting the intensity around the Mumbai all-rounder.

Other names being linked to trades

Several other potential deals are also being discussed across franchises. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals are reportedly considering a swap involving Romario Shepherd and Sam Curran. Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings are said to be exploring a move that would send Nihal Wadhera to Gujarat and Gurnoor Brar to Punjab.

KKR are also believed to be monitoring Suryakumar Yadav as a possible long-term leader, while there is talk that Rajasthan Royals could offer Yashasvi Jaiswal in a complicated deal if they push harder for Hardik Pandya. These remain unconfirmed, but they underline how aggressive the trade market has become.

Abhishek Sharma situation adds another twist

Sunrisers Hyderabad are also dealing with concern around Abhishek Sharma, who has reportedly been unhappy with the franchise’s decision to hand captaincy to Ishan Kishan. Reports have suggested exploratory talks with Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, with Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings also keeping tabs.

SRH’s leadership issue has since been publicly downplayed by the franchise’s CEO, who rejected the rift as “not true.” Still, the storyline has added another layer of uncertainty to the build-up before the auction window opens.

There has also been noise around Mumbai’s wider leadership plans, with reports suggesting they may revisit Rohit Sharma as an option. But another report has stated that there have been no internal discussions about appointing him as captain, leaving the club’s next step unclear.

What this means before the mini-auction

The early trade activity suggests that franchises are no longer waiting for the auction table to solve their problems. If the confirmed deals are any indication, the 2027 cycle may bring more swift, high-value swaps before a single paddle is raised.

As one team reshapes its core, another is trying to manage captaincy pressure, and several others are circling elite names in the hope of one decisive move. With the mini-auction still ahead, the market could get even busier in the coming weeks.
