England have named their seven-man squad for the Hong Kong Sixes 2026, and John Simpson will lead the charge. The Sussex captain and wicketkeeper heads a side packed with county leaders, all-round talent and raw pace, as England look to go one better after reaching the semi-finals in 2025.
England announced their squad on October 22, with Simpson confirmed as captain. The six-a-side tournament runs from October 30 to November 1 at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground, Hong Kong.
England sit in Group A and will face Australia and Hong Kong, China. The group offers a quick test of nerve in a format where every ball matters.
The squad draws heavily from Sussex and Warwickshire. Daniel Mousley is the only player from the 2025 squad to keep his place.
Simpson has been among the most consistent county batters of the past two seasons. He scored 1,086 County Championship runs in 2025 and led Sussex to promotion in 2024.
That blend of personal form and captaincy makes him a natural choice. The Sixes rewards decisive, aggressive cricket, and the leader needs to think fast.
Simpson is no stranger to the format. He was part of the MCC squad for the tournament in 2017. At international level, he played three ODIs for England against Pakistan in July 2021.
Cricket Hong Kong, China is excited to host the side. Director of Commercial and Marketing Anuraag Bhatnagar said:
“England bring a rich cricketing heritage and some of the most capable all-round talent in the county game to the Hong Kong Sixes 2026. The tournament celebrates the excitement, entertainment and fast-paced nature of cricket, and a squad led by John Simpson promises to add to the spectacle. We look forward to welcoming the team and giving fans an unforgettable cricketing experience.”
On current numbers, Martin Andersson stands out. The Derbyshire all-rounder took 6 for 23 against Leicestershire in the Vitality Blast in May 2026.
Those are the best T20 bowling figures in Derbyshire’s history. He was then named PCA Player of the Month for May 2026, and he arrives in Hong Kong in strong form.
Mousley is a left-handed batter and off-spin bowler from Warwickshire. He holds England ODI and T20I caps and has direct Hong Kong Sixes experience from 2025.
Edward Barnard captains Warwickshire in all formats. He was also part of the Worcestershire squad that won the T20 Blast in 2018.
Jack Carson, an off-spinner, captained Sussex in the One Day Cup 2026. Fynn Hudson-Prentice adds seam bowling and batting depth from Sussex.
Nathan Gilchrist, a Zimbabwe-born right-arm quick, supplies extra pace from his Warwickshire base. That gives England a rare specialist pace option in a spin-friendly mix.
